We’re looking for new interns and readers!
Offered in our San Francisco office, our unpaid, part-time publishing internship program offers broad but involved experience with a tight-knit editorial group, as well as in marketing and publicity. Interns will evaluate fiction and nonfiction manuscripts, organize and read unsolicited materials, and assist the editors and publicity directors in everyday administrative tasks such as mailing, shelving, filing, and light database management.
We’re especially looking for people with marketing experience, web design knowledge or film/video experience!
Candidates should have a strong interest in literature, a passion for reading with a critical eye, and organizational, verbal, and written skills. Interest in the awesome field of independent, local publishing is a plus! We are extremely flexible with personal schedules, but require a commitment of two days a week for three months.
We are also looking for readers, so even if you are not in the SF Bay Area please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested.
We all work very closely together, we often drink beer at our editorial meetings, and sometimes go to lunch together or go out for beers after work… basically we’re all pretty sociable and we may play hard, but we work just as hard and will expect the same in both areas from you! But we won’t make you do the beer bong if you don’t want to…
To apply, please email your resume and cover letter to Melissa Serpa at mserpa [at] macadamcage [dot] com with the subject line “M/C Internship program.”
Thanks for your interest in MacAdam/Cage!
Cheers and happy reading!
